Playing the Symphony of Interprofessional Primary Care: Harmonising Research and Practice

The central theme of the conference, “Playing the Symphony of Interprofessional Primary Care: Harmonising Research and Practice,” underscores the importance of cohesive, collaborative care by bringing together diverse healthcare professionals.

The event program is structured around three interconnected perspectives to build this symphony of care:

  • Professional/Team Perspective: Showcasing effective interprofessional models, leadership in team settings, and the impact of interprofessional education.
  • Health System Perspective: Exploring community-centred primary care, policy innovation, evaluation frameworks, and emerging digital tools (like AI) to support collaboration.
  • Patient/Citizen Perspective: Placing people at the centre, focusing on patient participation in care decisions, care for special populations (e.g., healthy ageing, palliative services), and strengthening patient-provider partnerships.

The conference will feature keynote talks, thematic panels, interactive workshops, and networking sessions.

JACARDI participation

Laurent Desmet, from the University of Antwerp and a member of one of JACARDI’s pilot teams working on care pathways, will present findings from a qualitative interview study guided by the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR). The study explores the challenges and enablers in developing and implementing practice-tailored protocols in primary care settings. The presentation will contribute to the broader dialogue on implementation science and interprofessional collaboration, aligning closely with the conference’s emphasis on harmonising research and practice in real-world healthcare environments.
