What are our synergies?

Shaping the Future of Health Together
Strategic Synergies for a Healthier Europe
To amplify its impact and align with Europe’s evolving public health priorities, JACARDI actively collaborates with other EU-funded initiatives and key experts and stakeholders. These synergies reflect the common and unified commitment to preventing non-communicable diseases, transforming health and care systems, and strengthening national capacities through more person-centred, equitable and sustainable approaches. By fostering structured multisectoral and multistakeloder collaboration and aligning activities, we aim to enhance the effectiveness of public health strategies across Europe, reducing the burden of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes, and improving health outcomes.
Strategic guidance from leading experts: the JACARDI Advisory Board
The JACARDI Advisory Board brings together a diverse group of international experts in public health, non-communicable diseases, health policy, and equity. Structured into two bodies, the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) and the Stakeholder Advisory Board (StAB), it ensures that both high-level scientific expertise and the voices of key stakeholder communities are embedded throughout the Joint Action. Members include representatives from academia, international organisations, scientific societies, patients, and civil society, reflecting a broad and inclusive perspective on health.
Selected through a transparent and participatory process, Advisory Board members provide strategic input across the project’s scientific, policy, and implementation dimensions. They contribute to the relevance, quality, and sustainability
of JACARDI’s work by offering guidance on key deliverables, participating in strategic discussions, and engaging in knowledge-sharing activities such as masterclasses, conferences, and public outreach. Their continuous involvement supports the translation of evidence into meaningful change, helping JACARDI stay anchored in
real-world needs and aligned with broader European
health priorities.
Action Grants
Strengthening NCD Prevention and Management Through Synergistic Action Grants
JACARDI collaborates closely with nine Action Grants under the EU4Health Programme to enhance the prevention and management of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), diabetes, and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs). This partnership is built on a shared commitment to maximise impact, promote complementarity, and strengthen the coherence of EU-level action in the field of NCDs. A dedicated Transversal Synergy Group, composed by the JACARDI Executive Board and Coordination Team of each Action Grant, was established to provide a structured platform for coordination, knowledge exchange, and alignment of strategic priorities. The synergy between JACARDI and the Action Grants is built upon four key domains: dissemination, sustainability, equity, and implementation. Collaborative activities include co-organised events and webinars, the development of communication materials, the sharing of methodologies, and the participation in training, capacity building activities and masterclasses.
Additionally, efforts to promote equity in health systems, strenghtenimprove patient-centered approaches and co-creation of the interventions and facilitate the translation offrom evidence into policy are central to this partnership.

Fostering impact together: Jacardi and JAPreventNCD
JACARDI and JA PreventNCD, Europe’s two largest Joint Actions on non-communicable diseases, are joining forces to amplify their collective impact and foster long-term, sustainable change in NCD prevention and management. By aligning efforts across practice, policy and communication, this collaboration ensures coherence, avoids duplication, and maximizes the value of EU investments in public health.
At the core of the collaboration between JACARDI and JA PreventNCD is the Transversal Synergies Group. Composed of members from the respective coordination teams, this group meets monthly to align strategies, identify joint opportunities, share best practices, and coordinate efforts across the two Joint Actions. This structured and continuous exchange ensures strategic coherence and reinforces a common vision for tackling NCDs across Europe.
One of the key areas of synergy between JACARDI and JA PreventNCD is sustainability, with the Joint Sustainability Coordination Body that plays a pivotal role in fostering high-level policy alignment. Together, the two initiatives co-develop a dynamic Joint Sustainability Plan and contribute to a shared roadmap for lasting impact on NCD prevention and care.
Communication is another key pillar of this partnership. The communication teams of both Joint Actions work hand in hand to harmonise messaging, co-develop visual tools and templates, and coordinate outreach efforts on shared themes and milestones, ensuring a stronger, more unified voice in the European public health landscape.
This collaboration also spans multiple technical areas and work packages, including equity, health literacy, monitoring systems, as well as joint scientific publications and events.
Together, JACARDI and JA PreventNCD are setting a new benchmark for collaboration, demonstrating how shared governance, integrated communication, and cross-cutting synergies can accelerate progress towards a healthier, fairer, and more sustainable Europe.
About JA PreventNCD
Cancer and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs) represent a significant portion of the disease burden in Europe, much of which is preventable. The Joint Action Prevent Non-Communicable Diseases (JA PreventNCD) project is designed to address this challenge by supporting strategies and policies that aim to reduce the burden of cancer and NCDs, focusing on both individual and societal risk factors.
