Prevention in Action: Combating Non-Communicable Diseases Through Collective Health Action and Education

The Prevention in Action (PIA) project combats Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) like cardiovascular diseases and diabetes through education, early detection, and equitable access to health information. Led by Red Cross National Societies, PIA targets youth and vulnerable populations, including displaced individuals from Ukraine. The project aims to reach nearly 15,000 children and youth by providing programs like Sudden Death Prevention and CPR training, and by developing a remote monitoring app.

Healthy habits through storytelling: PODiaCar’s mission to reach 25,000 children

PODiaCar addresses childhood obesity, aiming to prevent conditions like Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) and CVD. The mission combines medical innovation with education, utilizing advanced digital tools, including an Advanced Screening Tool and a Personalized Digital Twin, to predict and track health outcomes. The project fosters healthy behaviors among children and families through educational campaigns using interactive materials, storytelling, and the creation of an engaging animated cartoon. The goal is to reach over 25,000 children.

Small lifestyle changes, big difference: PREACT shows the way

PREACT focuses on preventing cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and diabetes through early intervention and behavior change. It utilizes an evidence-based, community-driven approach. Following a comprehensive needs analysis, the project finalized a comprehensive educational toolkit. PREACT has launched ten pilot actions from November 2024 to June 2025 in schools and community settings to test the materials' real-world impact.

DUSE: Educating Youth for Lifelong Health and Diabetes Prevention

The DUSE project focuses on preventing type 2 diabetes (T2DM) by educating and empowering children and adolescents to adopt healthy habits. The core mission promotes long-term well-being through nutrition and physical activity. DUSE uses innovative tools like a serious gaming app and encourages students to build their own health-tracking apps using the MIT App Inventor platform.
