Why we need action
Accurate, comparable, and timely data on cardiovascular disease (CVD) and diabetes mellitus (DM) is currently not available. This information is crucial for the development of targeted policies aimed at reducing the burden of CVD and DM, ultimately improving healthcare for all in Europe and alleviating inequalities.
Our mission
The goal of Work Package 7 is to improve data quality and availability on CVD and DM to better understand and address their burden. Accessible, homogeneous, high-quality data will provide evidence of their impact and identify gaps and inequalities among EU countries. This data will help increase awareness, pinpoint specific groups requiring more attention, and ultimately aid policymakers in delivering quality care from the patient’s perspective.
Our action plan
Work Package 7 will conduct a comprehensive analysis of existing data sources, identify gaps, and implement practical solutions defined through 44 projects in 8 countries.
Key milestones include:
- Developing guidelines for data collection and standardization.
- Creating a network to share best practices.
- Implementing data-related processes or systems.
- Establishing a roadmap for scaling up successful strategies to broader levels.
Strategies for long-term success
Long-term success strategies include:
- Establishing standardization processes and tools.
- Building collaborative networks.
- Performing continuous assessment and improvement of implementation projects.
- Demonstrating the value of data.
- Roadmap for scaling up.
- Capacity building and training for data collection processes.
- Promoting a data-sharing culture to create a robust and sustainable framework for data management.
